On September 1, 2023, the Limited Test was released to all that purchased Global Offensive before it became free-to-play in 2018 and were active in competitive matchmaking. Counter-Strike 2 released to the public on September 27, 2023, replacing Global Offensive on Steam.

Counter-Strike 2: how to find your test invitation Launch CS:GO after the download is done and choose “Limited Test” to play CS2. Initially the limited test will offer Deathmatch and Unranked Competitive matchmaking on Dust2 with more content being added over time. Your XP will carry over to CS:GO while you play CS2.

Boot up CS:GO and load into the main menu. If you got into the CS2 beta test, you'll see a popup telling you so (or else a notification in your left-hand main menu bar with a message about the beta). Just click “Enroll” on the popup, and you're good to go! You may need to restart CS:GO to play the beta.
